<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has improved transmission coefficient with wide viewing angle characteristics while suppressing a manufacturing cost and is capable of displaying an image of high display quality. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: an array substrate AR including pixel electrodes EP disposed correspondingly to respective pixels PX; a counter substrate CT which is disposed so as to face the array substrate AR and includes a counter electrode ET common to the plurality of pixels PX; and a liquid crystal layer LQ held between the array substrate AR and the counter substrate CT. The pixel electrode EP has a band-like first principal electrode part EPa, and the counter electrode ET includes band-like second principal electrode parts ETa which are disposed in parallel alternately with the first principal electrode parts EPa so as to form lateral electric field between the first principal electrode parts EPa and the second principal electrode parts ETa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
