<p>A packet transmit network (PTN) device and a method for asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switching, relating to the technologies of PTN and ATM. The device disclosed in the present invention includes: an ATM interface processing unit for recovering an ATM cell from a physical layer signal, and coding an ATM cell sent by the current switching path into a physical layer signal to be sent to an ATM network; an ATM switching unit for performing virtual path (VP)/virtual channel (VC) switching on the ATM cell recovered from the current switching path, and performing VP/VC switching on the ATM cell reduced from the current switching path; a simulation processing unit for encapsulating a simulation service into the ATM cell generated and recovered from the current switching path, sending the same to a packet switching processing unit, and decapsulating a simulation frame sent from the packet switching processing unit to reduce out the ATM cell; and the packet switching processing unit for determining a switching path of the received simulation frame and switching the same to the determined switching path. The technical solution above realizes the ATM switching service on a single-point PTN device.</p> |
