A garment 200, in particular a garment for animals and/or human beings, is provided with at least one puncturable portion 100 containing a substance (110, Fig 1a) (such as a fluid, gel or foam) which, when the portion is punctured by an object, animal or weapon (for example an animal bites or punctures the said portion of the garment, or a human ruptures the portion using a weapon) , is arranged to act as an animal repellent and/or to mark the object/animal/human that caused the puncture. The portion may be an enclosed volume with the substance contained therein; for example the portion may comprise a first wall portion (102, Fig 1a) and second wall portion (104, Fig 1a), the two walls being fixed together to form a watertight seal. The substance may produce a stain which is resistant to removal (for example a photo-luminescent dye). In one embodiment the garment may be one of a coat, a neck protector, a muzzle a head guard, an underside protector and a hind protector which may be worn by a dog. A method of manufacturing a foamed material for inclusion in a garment wherein the foamed material is provided with a substance arranged to act as an animal repellent is also disclosed. |
