PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing fish eye extract is provided to effectively treat corneal and conjunctival epithelium disorders without side effects. CONSTITUTION: A composition for treating xerophthalmia contains 0.01-10%(w/v) of fish eye extract as an active ingredient. The composition further contains preservative, isotonic agent, stabilizing agent, antioxidant, or pH adjusting agent. The fish eye extract is prepared at 100-3000Mpa of pressure, 40-90 Deg. C. for 5-60 minutes. The fish eye extract is prepared by macerating, reflux extraction, hot water extraction, ultrasonic wave extraction, and extra-high voltage extraction.
