<p>The present invention relates to image and/or video coding and decoding. In particular, the present invention relates to supporting any input image size of image input to the encoder even when the encoder works block-wisely and requires for the purposes of encoding an internal image size being an integer multiple of a predefined block size. In order to enable encoder and decoder working compatibly, the number of padding pixels inserted in the encoder is calculated in the same way at the encoder and the decoder. At the decoder, the calculated number of pixels is cropped from the decoded image. The calculation relies on the size of the image before padding and the size of a smallest coding unit (block), which are typically signaled within the bit-stream of the coded image/video.</p> |
