[Class 146 (iii).] An eraser holder comprises a stem or stems extending from one side or opposite sides of a supporting member therefor, an enclosure disposed about the stem or each stem, and erasing material mounted on the stem or stems and movable to provide an exposed portion extending from the enclosure or enclosures. In the form shown, a split barrel portion 7, adapted for use as a holder for a pencil, has formed or secured to its upper end a threaded boss 8 provided with a central stem 9. The stem is adapted to receive a cylindrical eraser 10 provided with a central bore, and surrounding the eraser is a tubular sleeve 11 threaded on to the boss 8. The stem 9 may be threaded, serrated, roughened, or provided with teeth to retain the eraser in the position into which it is moved. The portion 7 may be an integral part of a mechanical pencil or a fountain pen. In modifications in which the eraser holder is a separate unit, either a cylindrical or rectangular body member, provided midway with a flange to act as a shoulder, has extending therefrom on two opposite sides a serrated &c. stem adapted to receive an eraser; in the case of a cylindrical body member, two cylindrical sleeves are threaded thereon to abut the shoulders, and in the case of a rectangular body member, two rectangular enclosures are slidably fitted thereon. In all cases the stems may be solid or tubular. |
