The present invention relates to compositions and methods for oral delivery of biologically-active substances. More particularly, the invention relates to systems and methods for treating inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, by means of particulate carriers loaded with therapeutic agents, which are targeted to cell receptors present on immune-competent cells.
