A lifting assembly 10 comprises a plurality of carrying arrangements 12, preferably pairs of carrying members or tines 14, arranged one above another and movable between proximate (fig. 1) and separated (fig. 6) conditions. A lifting means such as a ram 16 may apply a lifting force to the uppermost carrying arrangement 12A and a transmission arrangement 18 may transmit that lifting force to the remaining carrying arrangements 12 to move them sequentially to the spaced condition. The lifting assembly 10 may be used for delivering articles, such as food products to be frozen which may be meat such as bacon sides or bacon logs carried on trays 100, from proximate configuration stacked on a pallet 102 to a support assembly or rack 104 to dispose the articles at the support assembly 104 in the spaced configuration. The transmission arrangement 18 may include sets of pivoting members (22, 24 figs. 3 & 5) or sets of pull rods (122 fig. 16) and reaction members (132 fig. 16). A tray (210 fig 19) is also described having holding formations (216 fig. 23) for articles and providing an airflow path (224 fig. 20) between adjacent holding formations (216 fig. 23). |
