Transport device for transporting non-magnetic workpieces

The transport device has a permanent magnet (12) which is provided in order to generate the magnetic attractive force to the upper holding device (3). A workpiece (2) is held between the upper and lower holding devices (3,4) by the application of magnetic attraction force between holding devices. The workpiece is provided with a pressing plate (9) for varying the distance between the workpiece and the upper holding device. An independent claim is included for method for transporting non-magnetic workpiece.
