438,943. Winding and measuring fabrics. LISTER, M., 40, Souberie Avenue, Letchworth, Hertfordshire. May 20, 1935, No. 14664. [Class 42 (ii)] Material 2 Fig. 2, such as cloth or fabric is placed in the roll or folded in a container 1, and is led through an opening 3 to a rotatable measuring table 23 to which it is secured by a clip 36 and which is rotated until the required length has been withdrawn. A rocker-bar 15 is then rocked to draw the end of the measured length to the front edge of the container, when a sliding shutter 4, mounted in a groove 5 and carrying a priser bar 8 in a member 7 is moved to clamp the cloth &c. between the bar 8 and a groove 9 after which a cutter 12 is slid laterally by a knob 13 to sever the material, the table being supported meanwhile by a bar drawn out from the side of the container to a position underneath the table. One of the supporting arms 19 of the table is then sprung outwards to release it from the table, the fabric half withdrawn and folded over, a paper bag placed over it, after which the package of cloth is withdrawn and stapled by a stapling device 31 carried on the container. The material may alternatively be wrapped in paper carried in roll form on a bar in the container. When it is desired to cut the fabric into strips a fitting 43, Fig. 7, carrying blades 42 is attached to the member 7 on the cover. A recording device actuated by the rotation of the table is carried on the container.
