The coil (10) has an external insulation provided with a rectangular cross section and wound in windings in winding layers (16, 18, 20) that are radially and axially arranged one above the other at a winding axis (38) so that a hollow cylindrical winding body is formed. Flush radial columns (22, 24, 26) are formed by the windings. Strip conductors (12, 14) with the windings are guided and reversed to/from the winding layers during transition of the strip conductor to the columns so that parallel oblique winding disks (30) are formed.
