PURPOSE: A washing machine and a controlling method thereof are provided to reduce a noise generated by operation of a motor when repeating the rotation of a motor. CONSTITUTION: A water current forming unit forms water current in washing water. A motor(130) forms the water current forming unit. A control unit(220) outputs a command torque current value controlling the motor. The control unit rotates the motor. The control unit reduces the command torque current value to a fixed inclination. The control unit decelerates the motor.
