PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emergently diagnose a contact state, and to emergently take measures at the diagnosis. SOLUTION: This contact point diagnostic method includes steps for; replacing a contact 3a as the object of failure diagnosis with a preliminary contact 5; matching the number of the preliminary contact 5 with the number of the contact 3a as the object of failure diagnosis by the operation of a switch 4 to enable the preliminary contact 5 to achieve a function which is equivalent to that of the contact 3a as the object of failure diagnosis; making diagnosable the state of the contact 3a as the object of the failure diagnosis from the input/output state of the signal of a PLC or external equipment via the preliminary contact 5; and taking emergency measures even if the object of diagnosis is decided to be a failure.
