PURPOSE: An image signal processing method and a performing display device are provided to reduce the color gamut of an image signal for the display color gamut of a display panel. CONSTITUTION: An image signal processing unit(100) includes a first color space converting unit, a color gamut controlling unit, and a color gamut mapping unit. The first color space converting unit converts a source image signal into an image signal of a color space for color gamut mapping. The color gamut controlling unit reduces the color gamut of the image signal. The color gamut mapping unit maps the image signal of the reduced color gamut in the color space into the display color gamut displayed in a display panel.
