<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that methods and apparatuses for treating water and sludge in a closed water area and purifying water have been suggested, and among which, a floating apparatus for purifying water using a circulating flow by generating water flow to send the surface layer water containing comparatively large amount of oxygen to the lower layer is also suggested, however, in a closed water area, there is a lot of floating matter such as floating garbage, which clogs the apparatus and results in stopping or breaking the apparatus many times; and to provide an apparatus capable of a stable long time operation. <P>SOLUTION: The water purification apparatus floats on the water surface, and purifies water by generating a circulating flow by means of the water flow sending the surface layer water to the lower layer.
