PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bootstrap circuit which enables a bootstrap gain to be increased, an inverter circuit using the bootstrap circuit, a scanning circuit using the inverter circuit, a display device using the scanning circuit, and an electronic apparatus including the display device.

SOLUTION: A bootstrap circuit includes: a transistor; and a capacitor connected between a gate electrode and one of source/drain regions of the transistor. The bootstrap circuit carries out a bootstrap operation in which an electric potential at the gate electrode is changed depending on a change in an electric potential at the one of the source/drain regions. The transistor has a structure in which the source region and the drain region are asymmetric with respect to a line passing through a center of the gate electrode.
