<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce switching noise of a triac and a thyristor in a load control device in which the triac and the thyristor are used as a main opening/closing part and as an auxiliary opening/closing part, respectively. <P>SOLUTION: The load control device includes an auxiliary opening/closing part 17 and a main opening/closing part 11 connected in series between a commercial power source 2 and a load 3. When energizing the load 3, the auxiliary opening/closing part 17 is first conducted, and after the conduction the main opening/closing part 11 supplies power more stably at a side closer to the load 3 than the auxiliary opening/closing part 17. The auxiliary opening/closing part 17 uses a thyristor 17a as a switch element while the main opening/closing part 11 uses a triac 11a as a main switch element. The device also has an auxiliary power supply part 19 for reducing switching noise of the thyristor 17a and triac 11a.
