<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack and pinion steering apparatus capable of preventing oil from adhering to a gasket, even if the oil leaked from a bearing with a non-contact seal flows out of a housing. <P>SOLUTION: A toroidal oil sump groove 74 is formed at a position neared to a ball bearing 51 on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical tube part 711 of a cover 71. In addition, a toroidal O-ring groove 76 mounting an O-ring 75 is formed on the upper part rather than the toroidal oil sump groove 74 on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical tube part 711 of the cover 71. Furthermore, a toroidal oil sump flange 77 is formed to be projected on an inner peripheral surface 715 of the cover 71 on the upper part of the cover 71. An inner peripheral surface 771 of the oil sump flange 77 is formed to have the minimum gap with an outer peripheral surface 461 of an upper shaft part 46 of a pinion shaft 107. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
