PURPOSE: A regeneration method of waste activated carbon by chemical impregnation and heat treatment in vacuum is provided to penetrate into microspores of the surface functionalized waste activated carbon to be sterilized and bleached using mixed acid compounds. CONSTITUTION: A regeneration method of waste activated carbon includes the following steps: polluted waste activated carbon is impregnated in mixed solutions of acid and oxidant with various mixing rates; and the impregnated waste activated carbon is dried and heat treated in a vacuum heating furnace. The impregnation process uses one or more acid selected from sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and hydrochloric acid and one or more oxidants selected from hydrogen peroxide liquid, potassium permanganate aqueous solution, thio potassium sulfate aqueous solution, chlorine dioxide liquid, and hypochlorous acid sodium aqueous solution.
