<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stand-alone tape feeder feeding one carrier tape in which compaction of the width can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: A tape travel path 23 which guides tape feed of a carrier tape 15 in a tape feeder 5 is configured to include a second horizontal guide C which guides the carrier tape 15 in horizontal position with the component housing surface 15f directing upward at a component attraction position, and an inclination guide B which guides the carrier tape 15 in inclined position with the component housing surface 15f inclining for the horizontal plane. The carrier tape 15 introduced from an upstream end 5d is fed while being twisted in the way of the tape travel path 23, and fed in the inclined position at the inclination guide B.
