PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound that is an aromatic polycyclic compound having a high refractive index, has no problem in absorption in the ultraviolet region and in fluorescence, and has excellent transparency and that is polymerizable by means of an industrially advantageous UV curing apparatus using a high pressure mercury lamp or the like; and to provide a polymer formed by polymerizing the compound.

SOLUTION: There is provided 10-alkoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,4-methanoanthracene-9-yl-(meth)acrylate compound expressed by a particular formula (1) or (2).
