<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which allows a user to notice the direction and position of an object existing in the periphery of a vehicle, with an image showing the periphery of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An image display system is provided with plural detection means at the different positions of the vehicle to detect respective objects existing in the periphery of the vehicle. The image display system superimposes, on a periphery image, indexes each expressed by the form of a frame suggesting specific detection means having detected an object among the plural detection means and the object, and displays the superimposed image.
