<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording/reproducing apparatus which allows a user to sensuously recognize both a remaining time available for recording and a use capacity of a recording medium at a glance without performing any operation. <P>SOLUTION: The video recording/reproducing apparatus includes: a recording/reproducing part (an HDD recording/reproducing part 5 and an optical disk recording/reproducing part 6) for recording/reproducing a video in/from a recording medium; a recording medium state display part (an HD state display part 10 and an optical disk state display part 11) for displaying a remaining time available for recording in the recording/reproducing part with a specific recording mode by a display color and a use capacity of the recording medium by a display area dimension; a nonvolatile memory 8 for storing a data table indicating a correspondence relationship between the remaining time available for recording in the recording/reproducing part and the display color; and a control part 7.
