<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system and method capable of appropriately storing a medical image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing system includes a display section, a display control section and a storing section. The display section displays a stereoscopically visible 3D image by displaying a parallax image group having a predetermined parallax number, and displays a 2D image by replacing the parallax image group with plural identical images. The display control section makes the display section display the parallax image group which is generated from a piece of medical image data having a piece of 3D information, and makes the display section display a 2D image used for diagnosis, which is a 2D image corresponding to the parallax image group being displayed on the display section.
