<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate foreign matter such as liquid droplets contained in the air at a high elimination rate by a filter. <P>SOLUTION: This filter is used for cleaning air by eliminating foreign matter such as liquid droplets contained in the air. A separation unit 23 is formed of a port block 13 formed with a primary side port 11 and a secondary side port 12, and a separation cylindrical body 20. The separation unit 23 includes a swirl flow generator 32 that transforms air into a swirl flow. The air rid of foreign matter and cleaned in a separation chamber 25 flows out of the secondary side port 12. A discharge pipe 37 guiding the cleaned air to the secondary side port 12 is arranged in the central section of a swirl flow creating chamber 24.
