SWITCHING LOSS REDUCTION IN CONVERTER MODULES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter for converting a DC input voltage into a DC output voltage or an AC output voltage while reducing a switching loss.

SOLUTION: A converter comprises a switching element 104 which supplies voltages to an input terminal 101 and an output terminal 103. A first series circuit 110 including a diode D110 and a capacitor C110 is provided for temporarily storing in the capacitor C110 energy induced by parasitic inductance Lparasitic when the switching element 104 is switched off. The diode D110 is coupled to the one input terminal 101, and an active circuit 120 coupled in parallel controls the release of energy temporarily stored in the capacitor C110 of the first series circuit 110.
