[Class 109] Relates to a machine for making a dead-lay rope in which the individual wires or strands are given a twist, equal and opposite to that imposed on them by the closing die 12, by passing the closed rope 14 in one direction along a rotating flyer 7 and reversing the direction by a pulley 17, before the rope is received by the take-up mechanism 18. Guides 28, 31 are so arranged with respect to the pulley 17 that the rope 14 passes obliquely over the pulley. The guide 28 may be adjustably mounted in a slot 29 in one of the discs 5 constituting the flyer. The surface of the pulley may be curved as shown. |
