<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device and method capable of efficiently cut a workpiece. <P>SOLUTION: The cutting device 10 includes a pair of pulleys 14, 16 for winding a band saw 12 so as to linearly travel in a cutting region, a drive means 18, rotary shafts 20, 22, and a tension means 24. The pulley has a diameter corresponding to the cutting width of the workpiece, and the band saw 12 wound around the pulleys cuts the workpiece in each of a cutting region on the near side and a cutting region in the other side where the band saw linearly travels while being wound around the pulleys, and cuts the workpiece deeply at a cutting feed speed equal to or below a speed of a half of a cutting feed speed in cutting the workpiece only in one region where the band saw linearly travels. The band saws 12 wound around the pair of pulleys 14, 16 are arranged side by side in the same plane at intervals corresponding to the cutting width of the workpiece. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
