<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that normally conveys a print medium to the downstream side, even if the print medium is conveyed to the upperstream side than a printing point in order to perform no-margin printing. <P>SOLUTION: A roll sheet 3A is moved from a first position to a second position. The first position is a position in which the roll sheet 3A is sandwiched between a platen roller 26 and a heat generation unit 311, and also, the roll sheet 3A is sandwiched between the platen roller 26 and a counter roller 29. The second position is a position where the roll sheet 3A is not sandwiched between the platen roller 26 and the heat generation unit 311, and also, the roll sheet 3A is sandwiched between the platen roller 26 and the counter roller 29. When the roll sheet 3A is in the second position, the tip 301 of the roll sheet 3A is located on the upperstream side than a printing point 23.
