<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device that can maintain lighting of a high-pressure discharge lamp without increasing the risk of light going-out even though instantaneous power failure or instantaneous voltage drop occurs, and a luminaire using the high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device. <P>SOLUTION: The high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device comprises: a DC power-supply section 1; an output section 2 for supplying a rectangular-wave alternate current to a high-pressure discharge lamp DL1; a control section 3 for controlling the output section 2; and an abnormality detecting section 4 that, when an output voltage V2 of the DC power-supply section 1 falls below a predetermined threshold, detects the occurrence of abnormality. The control section 3, when the abnormality detecting section 4 detects the occurrence of abnormality, shifts from a first mode of controlling the output section 2 so that the rectangular-wave alternate current is supplied to the high-pressure discharge lamp DL1 to a second mode of controlling the output section 2 so that an alternate current, which has before reversal of polarity a first current time T1 during which consumed power in the high-pressure discharge lamp DL1 is less than that in the first mode and current value is higher than an average value of a current supplied to the high-pressure discharge lamp DL1, is supplied to the high-pressure discharge lamp DL1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
