<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable comparing a handwritten image with a sample image by reviewing the handwritten image after time of handwriting input. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 comprises: a dictionary database 60a that stores at least one of predetermined sample images; a CPU 20 that displays a sample image specified by a user operation among sample images stored in the electronic database 60a; a touch panel 110 that receives handwritten input from a user in a state in which the sample image is displayed; and a handwritten image database 82 that stores a handwritten image input based on handwriting corresponding to the displayed sample image.
