摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector capable of outputting an individual counting rate with high accuracy by discriminating the kinds of radiations with one radiation detector even at a spot where the kinds of radiations, such as an alpha ray, a beta ray and a gamma ray are unknown. <P>SOLUTION: A first scintillator, the thickness of a first layer of which is 0.1 mm or below detects all alpha rays because an alpha ray has a short range. The first scintillator of the first layer loses only a small portion of energy in a beta ray, and a second scintillator, the thickness of a second layer of which is 0.1 to 1 mm loses almost all of the energy. The thickness of the second layer which loses almost all of the energy of a beta ray of targeted 2 to 3 MeV is selected. A third scintillator, the thickness of a third layer of which is 0.1 to 50 mm detects a gamma ray because the gamma ray has high penetrability. In the scintillator of each layer, an electronic circuit measures difference between light emission decay times by using different light emission decay times, and discriminates the kind of a radiation with high accuracy by performing waveform analysis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
