<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical packet receiver capable of receiving an optical packet even when a level difference between optical packets is large. <P>SOLUTION: An optical packet receiver 10 comprises: an optical branch coupler 12 to branch an inputted optical packet by an unequal branch ratio; a variable optical attenuator 14 to attenuate a first optical packet which is already branched by the optical branch coupler 12, and has a larger branch ratio; an optical switch 16; and an optical receiver 18 to receive an optical packet outputted from the optical switch 16. The optical switch 16 inputs the first optical packet attenuated by the variable optical attenuator 14, and a second optical packet which is already branched by the optical branch coupler 12, and has a smaller branch ratio. The optical switch 16 outputs the second optical packet when an optical level of the first optical packet is more than a first threshold value, and outputs the first optical packet when the optical level of the first optical packet is less than the first threshold value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
