<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal element that allows stereoscopic vision without deteriorating resolution and transmittance. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal element includes: a first transparent substrate; a first transparent electrode formed on the first transparent substrate; a second transparent substrate facing the first transparent substrate; a prism layer formed on the second transparent substrate; a second transparent electrode formed on the prism layer; a liquid crystal layer held between the first and second transparent substrates and having a liquid crystal molecule exhibiting a cholesteric blue phase; and control means for changing a traveling direction of light passing through the prism layer at an invisible speed by changing a refractive index of the liquid crystal layer in a manner that a voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer is switched at high speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
