<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and method for appropriately collecting images of a vascular structure. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a collection part and an image reconstruction part. The collection part spatially nonuniformly applies a saturation pulse for saturating a longitudinal magnetization component of proton to an area where fluid flows, applies an excitation pulse to the area after a prescribed time elapses since application of the saturation pulse, and collects signals from the area.
