RED PHOSPHOR, METHOD FOR PRODUCING RED PHOSPHOR, WHITE LIGHT SOURCE, ILLUMINATING DEVICE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red phosphor of high efficiency and a method for producing the same, to provide a white light source and an illumination device that enable illumination with the pure white color using the red phosphor, and to further provide a liquid crystal display device exhibiting good color reproducibility.

SOLUTION: The red phosphor contains an alkaline earth metal element A, europium (Eu), silicon (Si), carbon (C), oxygen (O), and nitrogen (N) as main crystals, wherein a peak present at a position of the angle of diffraction of 36.0-36.6° in an X-ray diffraction pattern of the red phosphor exhibits a peak intensity ratio of ≥0.52 against a peak present at a position of the angle of diffraction of 35.0-36.0°.
