<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus allowing simultaneous and easy visual recognition of a connection state of a detachable unit and work possible in the state with a simple constitution at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a display 35 includes first display windows 36a and 36b for displaying a connection state of an option feeder 30 to a main housing 22 and a second display window 37 for displaying executable work corresponding to the displays of the first display windows 36a and 36b. A switch member 33 is reciprocated right and left to reciprocate also a display change section 33b in the same direction, and thereby changing also a first pattern 40 and a second pattern 41 overlapping with the first display windows 36a and 36b and the second display window 37.
