DAMPING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping apparatus capable of suppressing generation of abnormal sound or the like by limiting the vibration amplitude of an auxiliary mass within an appropriate range.

SOLUTION: The damping apparatus includes an auxiliary mass supported by a spring element; an actuator which vibrates the auxiliary mass; and a control means which controls a current to be applied to the actuator for suppressing vibration of a vibration control object by use of a reaction in the vibration of the auxiliary mass by the actuator. The control means further includes an amplitude control means which performs, when the current to be applied to the actuator is controlled based on an amplitude instruction value and a frequency instruction value of vibration to be generated, a control to limit the current value to be applied to the actuator so that the vibration amplitude of the auxiliary mass does not exceed a predetermined value.
