<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge mechanism which does not require increase of the number of components, is inexpensive, and does not increase assembly man-hours. <P>SOLUTION: A rotation angle position of a retaining plate Y, at which magnitudes of moment of the retaining plate Y and torque generated by bending of a coil spring 7 due to movement of a slider 5 are reversed, is defined as a turning point p. Attenuation means is provided which attenuates a fall acceleration of the retaining plate Y within a range where the rotation angle of the retaining is smaller than that at the turning point p and is formed before an angle at which the retaining plate Y completely closes.
