A vehicle air conditioner (100-105) comprising: a refrigerant circuit having a compressor (1), an outdoor heat exchanger (2), a throttle device (3), and an indoor heat exchanger (4) connected by a refrigerant pipe and forming a refrigeration cycle; an indoor fan (5) for supplying air to the indoor heat exchanger (4); and an outdoor fan (8) for supplying air to the outdoor heat exchanger (2). The refrigerant circuit is mounted under the floor of a vehicle (200). Carbon dioxide is used as the refrigerant. It is thereby possible to minimize any decrease in user comfort even when leakage of the carbon dioxide refrigerant occurs, and to ensure vehicle stability during travel.
