The processing machine comprises a residue removing device, which comprises a suction carriage for movement in a translational direction. The suction carriage is arranged at a fixed suction duct of the processing machine, and comprises a suction arm carrier and a suction arm that is pivotally mounted on the suction arm carrier. The suction arm comprises a separator for separating solid residual parts depending on their absolute or specific weight, where the solid residual parts are removable by the suction carriage or a dustpan of the processing machine. The processing machine comprises a residue removing device, which comprises a suction carriage for movement in a translational direction. The suction carriage is arranged at a fixed suction duct of the processing machine, and comprises a suction arm carrier and a suction arm that is pivotally mounted on the suction arm carrier. The suction arm comprises a separator for separating solid residual parts depending on their absolute or specific weight, where the solid residual parts are removable by the suction carriage or a dustpan of the processing machine. The separator is formed as a flat-shaped deflection element arranged on the replaceable suction arm. The suction arm and/or the suction arm carrier comprises a channel for the removal of residual gas and/or smoke. A tape having an opening is adapted to drive the suction carriage in the translational direction. The channel is connected to the suction duct through the opening in the tape for removing the residual gas and/or smoke. The suction arm comprises a device such as a guide plate for separating solid-, gaseous- or smoke-like residues, a collecting container for temporarily storing solid residues, and a suction port that is arranged perpendicular to a working plane of the processing machine. A portion of the channel of suction arm and/or the suction arm carrier is arranged concentric with a pivot axis of the suction arm. The processing machine further comprises a disposal unit that is arranged on the suction arm and/or the suction arm carrier for the removal of solid residues, a break flap that is supported at the suction arm carrier, a suction arm drive for effecting pivot movement of the suction arm, and a controller for controlling the suction arm drive. The controller is designed to record two-dimensional position information about a processing position of a machining head and to generate a command for the suction arm drive using the two-dimensional position information for adjusting a pivot angle of the suction arm. A contact rail with a longitudinal guide forms a thrust bearing, where the longitudinal guide receives the suction carriage. A pivot axis of the suction arm is arranged perpendicular to the working plane of the processing machine.
