PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrange so that a curtain flow film led by an edge guide can be finished stably to a uniform thickness and a predetermined width.

SOLUTION: The absolute value of the difference between the surface tension of a lubrication fluid 15c to be supplied by the edge guide and the surface tension of a coating material constituting the curtain flow film 19, is set to be not more than 4 mN/m. Thus the surface tension can be balanced and the thickness of the curtain flow film 19 can be equally stabilized in the width direction.
