The system (10) has a wheelchair receiver (12) coupled with the wheelchair, and a guide element (32) i.e. U-shaped frame (34), guiding a set of carriages (30, 31). A driving element moves one of the carriages along the guiding element, and a set of lever units (22, 24) is fixed to the carriages, and pivots the wheelchair receiver relative to the carriages. A loading edge element (48) is pivotally connected with the guiding element, and another driving element pivots the loading edge element relative to the guiding element. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a transportation system (2) a method for transporting a wheelchair i.e. foldable wheelchair, between a stowed position in the motor car and end position by a user.
