<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce primary vibration of combustion actualized in an internal combustion engine particularly with a small number of cylinders. <P>SOLUTION: This vibration damping device for the internal combustion engine includes an energizing mechanism 91 pressed by a part of a balance shaft 61 rotated following the rotation of a crankshaft 71 in an expansion stroke, to apply energizing force B in a direction to nullify a load A applied to a cylinder block 82 from a piston, to the inner surface of a crankcase 81. The energizing force B offsets a force applied to the cylinder block 82 by the piston struck to the inner periphery of a cylinder bore during combustion. When the engine speed becomes high exceeding the resonance rotation speed of primary vibration of combustion, the energizing mechanism 91 is retreated into a position where it is not pressed by a part of a balance weight 62. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
