A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING REINFORCED ALUMINUM-METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES

The present disclosure relates to a process for producing metallic carbide particulate reinforced aluminum alloy matrix composite. The present disclosure envisages generating in-situ carbon for reacting with the metal containing compound in the molten aluminum matrix to obtain metallic carbide particulate. A hydrocarbon compound is selected as a carbon source. The process of the present disclosure allows up to 20 % of the metallic carbide particulate reinforcement to be introduced in the aluminum matrix.
