PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode paste that can prevent a whole negative electrode from curling when the negative electrode paste is applied onto a collector and dried, and further enables the negative electrode having excellent cycle characteristics and high battery capacity to be manufactured.

SOLUTION: There is provided a negative electrode paste used for manufacturing the negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. The negative electrode paste includes: (A) a silicon-based negative electrode active material; (B) a binder containing polyimide resin or polyamide-imide resin; and (C) a plasticizer containing an ester compound.
