<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of false color while a multi-band color filter is used. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing system 40 includes a reception unit 41, a differential value calculation unit 42, a reference image generation unit 44, and an interpolation image generation unit 45. The reception unit 41 receives a raw image signal which is constituted by multiple pixel signals each of which lacks one of first to m-th (m is an integer equal to or greater than 3) color signal components. The differential value calculation unit 42 calculates the differential value of the pixel signal using two pixels that neighbor a pixel corresponding to each one of the pixel signals. The reference image generation unit 44 generates a primary reference image through the use of a first color signal component having the largest number of elements within an image signal in the raw image signal. The interpolation image generation unit 45 generates an interpolation image by interpolating all the color signal components using the primary reference image.
