CAPACITIVE TOUCH PANEL AND DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect disconnection failure at ends of X electrodes and Y electrodes without bringing a probe into direct contact with the ends of the X electrode and the Y electrode.

SOLUTION: A capacitive touch panel comprises: a base plate; a plurality of X electrodes which extend in a second direction and are repeated in a first direction crossing the first direction on the base plate; a plurality of Y electrodes which extend in the first direction so as to cross the X electrodes and are repeated in the second direction on the base plate; and lead-out wirings connected to ends of the plurality of Y electrodes. Respective lead-out wirings are connected to terminals which are formed at one side of the base plate and correspond to respective lead-out wirings. When two neighboring Y electrodes among the plurality of Y electrodes are represented as a first Y electrode and a second Y electrode, the capacitive touch panel has coupling capacitance which couples one end of the first Y electrode with one end of the second Y electrode in an alternating current manner.
