An objective of the present invention is to carry out a virtual edge display whereby a display device may be easily held when used in a standalone state, and which does not interfere with a screen display when used in proximity to a plurality of display devices. A display device comprises a plurality of proximity sensors upon the external periphery thereof, and is further provided upon the external periphery and the interior thereof with a plurality of bodies for detection. The display device thus senses the proximity of other display devices with a similar configuration, and does not carry out the edge display on the portion wherein the proximity is sensed.
