An electric vacuum cleaner equipped with an electric fan (21) that is disposed inside the main body (1), a dust collector (8) that collects the dust contained in the air drawn in by the electric fan (21), a filter provided on the downstream side of the dust collector (8), and a filter cover (11) that covers the filter so as to open and close freely, wherein the filter cover (11) is configured so that: one end is pivotally supported on the main body (1) so as to pivot freely and the other end engages detachably with an engaging part (26) that is provided on the main body; and an engagement release button (28), which releases the engagement with the engaging part (26), is provided.
